I would have died. I joke about burping to my friends so they would probably known what was up. But then I could always just laugh it off like “I somehow found someone who burps more than me.”

I burp a lot. Kinda my signature. Not on purpose but everyone who has spent any amount of time with me knows it. Some of them make fun of me and I make fun of myself.

I would just own up to it TBH. I don’t know what your friend group is like but mine has at least talked about weird stuff like “If we had an orgy right now which one of us would participate?” So if this happened to me, I’d would 100% be like “ah fuck you weren’t supposed to see that. wrong link.” and then send a gif or meme like:

The closest I got to being outed was in middle school. I’m so dating myself here but I had a tape recorder an recorded burps off the computer speaker from that old site burp dot com (or was it belch dot com?). I was using the same cassette tape to record stuff with my friends at school. When my friend wanted me to play back our stuff, I rewinded too far and we heard the first few seconds of a burp that went BRAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUURRR– and I immediately stopped it like “WHOOPS” my friend just laughed like “Hahah oh my god what was that??? that burp was HUGE!” and since so many of my friends borrowed the tape recorder to say something I just shrugged it off like it was somebody else.

did anyone ever prove or disprove the burps on that site?
they were always labeled something like “BRITNEY SPEARS BURP!” or “Angelina Jolie Burp!” and 12 year old me gawked at the idea of celebrities burping online. But it took me a decade later to realize that was most likely bullshit (they were all audio clips) and whoever made that site probably did most of the burps. I could have been jacking off to guy burps the whole time and not realized it.

I think the site owner said that the burps were sent in by other people, usually one of the real women who had their burps featured. But he claimed that Jerry Seinfeld’s was real because he “didn’t have a lot to do those days” which sounded like a joke.
this is like my worst fear I am so sorry I hope you were able to cover it up lol. if it ever happens to you again (or anyone), I’d play it off like “someone just sent me this, wtf is this” lmaoo. I’ve had 2 close calls in my life when I was younger and that shit was terrifying
