Made a tool to search through Twitch chats

There may be an issue with your windows configuration, I am trying this out on my end and everything seems to be working

How do I change my windows configuration?

Ok nvm I got it to work now, I think it was the fact that I had multiple of the some of the files

Ah, I see, you might’ve been opening the wrong version of the program. Glad that it’s working again :+1:

I’m not sure why but mine takes a very long time to load whenever I put in my phrase

Could you pm me the name of the streamer and the phrase you used?

sr to bother but im on mobile and the steps are pretty confusing. After i download all the files under the assets in the latest release, what do i do?

Go into a terminal window, cd into the directory where the chat_reader binary is located, then run the binary. On Unix (& MacOS), do chmod +x chat_reader && ./chat_reader On Windows, just enter chat_reader

You shouldn’t need to download all the files in the release, just the one that pertains to your operating system

If you’re on windows, here’s a video you can watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NFQr7IJ1DE

Notice Before anyone comes and complains how the tool is panicking when loading channels, yes, I know. Twitch has made a server side change and I will be pushing out a new update soon. For now, you can use vod searches

Edit There also appears to be a problem with the official Twitch web client, so this may just be a temporary server issue

You can get updates here: https://status.twitch.tv/

I was checking Meg Turney’s channel and I realized that there were some erased VODs. Are these VODs erased by twitch when they surpassed some time or some VODs were erased for all users?

VOD’s will be automatically deleted after a certain time.

I believe if they are partnered they have 60 days before the VOD is deleted, non partnered is 14 days.

I haven’t done enough research, but that would make sense. There’s also the possibility that twitch is just deleting on demand now instead of with a timer.

You can set it like that I believe to not save any VODS.

Yes, twitch has an option where the live stream is the only option (ephemeral) and nothing is ever actually saved to twitch’s servers

I’ve yet to check on my computer today but in the meantime, could you show your input and output messages?

Edit: Sorry for the late response, however I couldn’t find anything issues involving looking up channels, vods, and matching text. (So I’m not sure what the issue is). You may have just been using the tool during downtime on twitch

This works on mobile?

I have not invested too much time into this, but you may be able to compile to Android as a target.

Is it still working?

The desktop program is still working
