This was a lovely and insightful thread until it descended into pithy political blithering. What certainly isn’t necessary here is divisive discourse. It should be no surprise to any of us that we have differing opinions on global events. To become rageful here is like screaming at the moon. What are we trying to prove? It is surprising but not shocking how often we permit others here to get under our mythology and tamper with our civility. I hope we are able to work toward a common compassion on this forum. Debates like these are a tiring excess for this fetish identity space.
To put in my cents regarding the actual thread topic: I appreciate Overdrives’ commentary and the theghost’s original question and I think politics should always be considered when taking actions both online and off. One need not commit to a clear moral path as that would be exhausting. It is better to have guidelines. It is better to take a holistic approach to living as a global citizen. Perform within your values. Straying from performing within your values often brings guilt and dissociation. Others’ values are their own business to act upon and we are better off avoiding judgement of their actions UNLESS they bring sufferings upon us that violate our capacity to act upon our values.
To be quite transparent in this space: I align myself with anarcho-pacifism from a Daoist lens. I am an American-Canadian citizen. I was not surprised by the felon’s win. Creators who support him have been removed from my spaces. I do not wish to support people who support the politics of the felon. In withdrawing my support, I act within my values.
I hope everyone touches grass today, respectfully. Dirt is better than ideas. I love you all.

Don’t have much to add but just want to emphasize that for some of us, our existence is political.
As a trans woman, my ability to access important healthcare and navigate the world safely will likely be made more difficult under the upcoming Trump presidency considering he has spoken extensively about his desire to deny people like me of our rights. Knowing that a creator supports Trump makes them kind of inherently opposed to my existence and the existence of my friends.
Seeing the discussion here as well as in the two Transphobia threads makes me want to engage with these forums less and less. Seeing that there are people here who either vote for or otherwise support a candidate or party that is opposed to my existence or else support those ideologies more directly, I don’t really want to be part of this community, not actively, and certainly not in a way where I feel obligated to share content I find on here. And honestly, the further I remove myself from this community, the more I’ve found myself being able to engage with my fetish in ways that I find more rewarding and satisfying.

Reading this makes me wonder if anyone actually researches anything??? If you did a simple look up you’d see that trump is actually pro lgbtq and announced it pretty openly in this 2016 campaign. All everyone is is “he’s a felon let’s talk trash about him” and not mention a single good thing he’s done. Has he been perfect at it? Most certainly not, and no one has. But he’s definitely made major improvements in a lot of areas
Are you a trump supporter? also He has rallied against transpeople, it is even listed in Project 2025 as one of the things he would do

Yeah, in government, an OFFICIAL business. That doesn’t mean anywhere else in our country. You have to realize in most places around the world LGBTQ isn’t recognized and in fact mostly punished.
No i’m not a trump supporter. I’m registered under the Republican Party, he is just the candidate that they endorsed. There are some things I don’t agree with that he does, just like any human would be. Just like how I also think Obama did good things as well, or even Biden. If you really want some specifics I can tell you
