Do fizzy drinks help or hinder?

I have a question for people who can belch on command. Do you find that drinking fizzy drinks before doing on command belches helps or hinders your belches?

I ask this because I really don’t like anything fizzy like soda or beer: part of it is the taste of those drinks, and the other part of it is the carbonation itself. But I might be alright with suffering a bit if people find that fizzy drinks do help with on command burps. After all, I want to burp at my greatest possible level, if you catch my drift.

as a belcher, i feel like sodas sort of make my burps gurglier , not so much loud or longer. i personally prefer orange juice myself xP

I can’t burp on command, so I drink carbonated beverages instead. I know you asked on-command burpers this question, but I feel as if it’s ok if I answered it despite not being one.

I think they help you if you’re not good at burping on command. If you’re good, you usually do better without drinks.

Gotcha. Thank you all for your replies. I think I will refrain from using fizzy drinks, since I can burp pretty well without them and I don’t want the fizziness to ruin a potential burp.

I might use water or some other drink to keep myself hydrated and all. Maybe I’ll pull a page from Sade’s book and try orange juice~

This definitely varies from person to person.
I’ve seen plenty of on-command burpers where drinks will improve their burping ability, but for me personally, it results in a loss of control of my on-command burps. Not only does it make the burps more airy/gurgly, but I actually find it harder to generate burps on-command if I’ve started adding drinks to the mix. Can’t explain why it helps some and hinders others!

Its a similar thing with food. Depending on what or when I’ve eaten, its much easier or harder to burp on-command. A completely empty stomach is no good, but then straight after a meal is also tricky.
For me I have to find a nice middle ground.

I might be weird but fizzy beverages give me really good natural burps. However when I’m burping on command I’m much better without carbonation

In my case they definitely help. I generally tend to burp quite often, but fizzy drinks make me burp 5 times as much as usual. I burp for every couple of sips of soda I take.
