Do you find burps funny?

I was talking in an informal group yesterday and the person sitting next to me interrupted me by unleashing a decently loud gassy burp that clearly erupted out by accident. I burst out laughing and so did a sillier one of us, who then said “that came from your diaphragm.” The person who burped kept apologizing but also laughing. Finally it was I who had to say enough and continue talking. I wanted to upstage their burp but realized a moment like that would come naturally anyway. We were asked what the most impactful part of the group was (it was the last of a series of recurrent groups and they were looking for feedback) and I joked, “[Person]'s burp!” The silly facilitator said, “okay, more burps!” after we all laughed again. If only they knew how serious I was being.

I will admit I set this up. I was drinking sparkling water (as usual ) and noticed they also like sparkling water and seem to have difficulty being aware of when theyre going to burp. They asked for one of my cans and I obliged, waiting on the burp. Mission accomplished. Ill make sure to bring them one when we see each other next.

Burps obviously excite me, but they can also make me laugh depending on the context and the moment. Imagining a singer accidentally burping in front of an audience can be hilarious to see and hear.

Maybe there’s also the “gap”: seeing a tiny, fragile little girl burp like a monster by surprise can also make me laugh, even if it doesn’t excite me.
