Favorite ways to spell out a burp?

I got this idea from a topic on the vore fetish forum, Eka’s Portal on Aryion.com. https://aryion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=44785

This is basically the same concept. There are many burpfics on Writing.com, Deviantart, and especially here on Burp Fetish Forums that have a lot of different ways to spell out burps.

For example, some stories write out burps like onomatopoeia, such as BBBBBBUUUUUURRRRRPPPPP. Others just describe the burp itself; the smell, sound, length, other people’s reaction to it, the belcher’s facial expression, etc.

Hopefully, this could help to improve someone’s writing somehow. I’d like to know what others personal preference on the matter are, so don’t be afraid to comment. I’ll start:

Does any one else use Bold, Italics, Underlining, or exclamation points when they write out their burps?

Also, does anyone else put them between asterisks?

Also also, does anyone use different colors for specific burps? (i.e. green for standard burps, red for belching fire, blue for burping out cold or ice, etc…)

I’ve done all of these.

First off, great topic! For myself I like when the burp itself spelled out rather than described. More sense of realism to me at least. honestly didn’t think many people cared for something like this small in writing.

I tend to do a mixture of things. Honestly it’s not the most consistent in my writing. Ordinarily I’ll focus on writing it in a way that emphasizes what I think should be the focus of the scene.

For instance, if I don’t think the burp is the focus, but instead the fact that the person burped is, I usually won’t spell it out and will instead describe the scene and the reaction to it. If I want the reader to feel like they can hear it, I’ll spell it out with a use of different letters for tone and capitalization for volume. This is always in italics. Ordinarily this is accompanied by a less in depth description of its qualities but I like to have the reader be able to imagine it how they like within reason in these circumstances so I won’t be too specific.

Also for some reason I draw a line between writing fiction and non-fiction with this. I’ll never spell it out for non-fiction, probably because I actually heard it and don’t want to try to put a real one into writing, so I’ll do my best to describe it accurately instead, going into more detail than I would for fiction.

I don’t really ever talk about smell, since I’m not really interested in that aspect and never really notice it in real life anyways. I’ve also never even considered using color, but maybe I’ll think about doing that given the subject of my new story (ignore the shameless plug).

This is an interesting topic that I never thought too much about but I definitely have a system, it’s just hard to pin down.

I personally prefer it when the burps are described, rather than onomatopoeias, but I’m not picky. As long it’s not too exaggerated, ruining my immersion, I like it.

This is how I categorize the different aspects of belches.

For pitch, I use lowercase lettering for shrill, squeaky belches and uppercase for deep, bassy belches.

bwwwwwoooooooorrrrrp!” – High-Pitched Burp

BWWWWWOOOOOOOORRRRRP!” – Low-Pitched Burp

For length, I go by how many letters are in the onomatopoeia, with every three letters indicating that half a second has passed.

URP!” – ½-Second-Long Burp

BWUARP!” – 1-Second-Long Burp

For volume, the presence or absence of exclamation points show how loud the belch is, the loudness increasing with each exclamation point added.

BWWWWWOOOOOOOORRRRRP” – Barely Audible Burp

BWWWWWOOOOOOOORRRRRP!” – Burp loud enough for anyone in the room to hear, but probably not from someone next door or in the hall.

BWWWWWOOOOOOOORRRRRP!!” – Burp loud enough for everyone in the room to hear and probably heard by someone outside of the room even with the door closed.

BWWWWWOOOOOOOORRRRRP!!!” – Burp loud enough for anyone out in the hall and from the room next door to hear, probably through the wall and from a different level of a house.

BWWWWWOOOOOOOORRRRRP!!! !” – Burp loud enough for the entire house or everyone listening to the volume of a loud lunch room or sound system.

BWWWWWOOOOOOOORRRRRP!!! !!+” – Burp loud enough for anyone next door to hear. (90 dB+)

If colored text is available, I assign special types of belches to a specific shade.

Green – Smelly Burp

Purple – Poison Burp

Red – Fire Burp

Blue – Ice Burp

Yellow – Lightning Burp

Light Blue – Cum Burp

I know this isn’t what you meant, but I love the idea of seeing a burp written with a plus next to it and imagining how I would try to interpret it.

Additionally, I can imagine hyphens being used by someone attempting to push out a belch, but it fractures and only part of the gas rips past their lips. Then, after a couple of seconds, the rest of the eructation escapes, probably when the person thumps their chest or rubs their belly.

Or it could be for a large expulsion of wind, after which, the character blushes deeply/covers their mouth/giggles sheepishly/etc. and attempts to excuse themselves for their breach in etiquette, but is interrupted by the following, relatively smaller afterburp, like a cherry on top of the proverbial gas-inducing sundae.

Personally I prefer when a burp is described or analysed descriptively rather than just spelled out as a word. The word burp tells me nothing about what the burp really sounded like in terms of depth, texture, smell, taste, how the person’s facial expression looked when they did it etc. Those are the main things that turn me on about a burp so if I’m reading or writing about a burp then those are the things which convey the burp in a sexual way to me.

It turns me on just about as much to write descriptively about burps I’ve seen or just free hand burp fiction than it does to watch videos even. Whenever I see one of my girl friends do a decent burp I love to go home and relive the entire experience by writing it down and describing every aspect of how it happened, and what it looked and sounded like. It gets me just as hard as if I’m watching a video of it. I have hundreds of stories written on my phone describing my friends burps, and countless more which are just free hand fantasy fiction describing situations involving girls and burping that I wish I could actually experience. Lol

I’ve seen some Tumblr posts talking about this stuff.

Also, I have a Deviantart journal taking about it.

I try to vary my burps, so I usually do this:
Strained or high-pitched burp: uuuuuuhhhhup!
Strained but deep burp: uuuuuhurrrrrap!
Deep burp: HUUUUOOOORRAP!
Deep rumbling burp: UUuUuuURrRooOOAAP!
Cut-off burps:
uuuuh-huuuuuroap!
uuuuhhh-HuuuURP!
UUR-rROOOAAP!
Burps with a wet end:
UUUUUUOOOOORRAAACH!
BWOOOOOORRRAAALLLPC!
I refrain from putting more than one B in the beginning, otherwise it sounds like you’re blowing raspberries. :stuck_out_tongue: I also try to describe the burp in terms of smell and moistness.

Just a simple “urrrp.” If it’s particularly loud or long, though, “OOUURRRRP” works too.

Maybe you could have more than on B in the beginning if someone is belching while giving someone a blowjob, since the person would be burping on another’s… southern extremities, making the belch be muffled with little open air to escape through and thus sound like a raspberry.
