I don’t think this has been asked before but some kinks/fetishes can be inherited so does anyone know if their parents have the fetish?
People are conditioned into having a fetish or kink based on personal experiences which trigger the brain, it cannot be inherited.
Do fetishes have a genetic component? Fetishes tend to be permanent. In their 2007 paper, Scorolli and her team proposed that body-related fetishes may be genetic , while object-related fetishes may be more related to early-life events. A behavioural fetish may reflect an individual’s personality
I don’t personally find the genetic theory to be very sound but decided to look more into this. Used my university login to access the study cited in the Varsity article. Here is the relevant (and slightly less conclusive) passage:
“Others consider sexual preferences, such as male homosexuality, genetic in nature Our results partially agree and partially contrast this theory, at least for
fetishes. In fact, the highly frequent preference for artificial objects here demonstrated seems not consistent with the genetic determination of
preferences. It is unlikely that a particular genetic makeup should result in a preference for specific stimuli such as, for instance, coats, balloons, eyeglasses or headphones – all of which we found in our data. On the other hand, the abundance of bodyrelated preferences (feet, breast, etc.) may derive from a genetic predisposition that favors the acquisition of such preferences, as we discussed previously.”
