So for a long of time after I felt shame, I came to a conclusion, which is that this fetish is maybe one of the kindest of them and not harmful, because of the facts that:
you basically encourage a woman to express herself and be free next to you
burps are joyful
it’s not inappropriate (except at times) like other things

It depends.. If the person doesn’t push themselves too hard, it can be fun for both sides. However, I knew a guy that got a hiatal hernia because he would constantly do 10-20 second furiously loud burps. Would constantly try to push natural limits for burping, so… as long as they aren’t doing that I think it is okay.

While I still have a certain amount of internalized shame that I have to work through, I’ve found that shifting the fetish from something I expereince privately online into something I get to enjoy with someone else, most notably my girlfriend, has helped me move past a lot of the shame I had for years over the fetish. In fact, I’m kind of proud to have this different thing and I think it helps me be more open with partners’ desires.
Not sure I agree with all of your reasons, and ultimately I think it’s important to keep in mind that most burp play is as inherently morally neutral as any sex, but whatever your partner takes from it is great. But I think that should always be something they get to decide how they feel rather than something we think of as inherent to the fetish, if that make sense.
I like that it’s a relatively safe and harmless kink for the most part.
