Should Piracy be allowed and why is the answer no?

Imagine if every content creator was as vigilent as Mel

it would be a desert

There is so much free content online that piracy wont really affect sales. People who pirate were never going to pay for it. It can be frustrating to content creators but people will find a way to get anything online for free and it comes with the territory. The best thing is to just make good content and differentiate yourself as niche as this market is we are getting to a point of oversaturation and its going to come to chance what people will succeed. There are only so many people spending so much there isnt room for everyone.

This is why new and different content is so important. Look at lMaryroselove, She posted a video about how she made over 100 grand last year off of her video sales. Probably paid for about 20% of all the content Iā€™ve ever seen of hers.

Sometimes I wonder what the best method would be if I were hypothetically selling videos. I think first of all, regardless of political opinion, it should be assumed that the content is going to be shared because thatā€™s just what people do. So maybe Iā€™d make that an official part of the system. Like some kind of kickstarter-like thing where as soon as say 10 people pay for a video then it just gets released to everyone. Another method might be to focus on customs, since some people have very specific tastes and combinations of things that they want in a video, and will pay for that simply because it does not exist elsewhere.

Looking at it from a marketing angle is an interesting way to see it anyway, and probably a better idea than other strategies. If you canā€™t beat it, then try to use it.

This. I have one person where we share stuff all the time with each other, paid and free. But we donā€™t go around sharing all this to other groups. There has been a video or two that Iā€™ve shared to a community but those were videos long gone and hard to find. Thatā€™s usually so I have a good standing, I enjoy seeing people create comps and free content

I definitely went into this knowing that my content has the possibility of being shared without my consent (this IS the internet). I think i used the laziest marketing strategy of AYCE. Lol! Im a big fan of AYCE kbbq and the likesā€¦so my subscription works the same way. But ive been reading stuff on reddit that the best way to grow your fan base is free subscriptions with pay per view. I feel like thats too complicated? Or im just being super lazy and want my subscribers to get all my current and future content for 1 price. Still strategizing what would work the best for me and my subscribers :face_with_monocle:

As far as I remember, ā€œpiracyā€ helped indie devs because people would pirate a game to see if they liked it. And if they did they would buy it. I feel like the same reasoning applies. I havenā€™t bought content in forever because the times that I did I was wildly disappointed

I actually wanted to write about people who pirate and only buy if they enjoy it. I donā€™t have much knowledge on whether it actually helps indie games, or itā€™s just a myth, but it seemed far-fetched to me that the amount people who pirate before buying is significant enough compared to the overall damage from piracy, which is ultimately why I didnā€™t include it in my reply.

One thing piracy might do when it comes to indie games is make a dev gain momentum/become more known, but at the end of the day, if a game is good, the dev will become more known regardless of piracy. I also donā€™t think getting noticed is a problem for models in our small communityā€”if theyā€™re good, theyā€™ll get noticed.

It could be argued that once a single video of a girl is leaked, it creates more demand, which could result in a net positive revenue for the model, but I feel like thatā€™s a slippery slope. A similar thing recently happened to a girl named Alice here, and it didnā€™t take too long for it to stop being profitable for her due to more of her videos being leaked.

Iā€™d say creating hype is what previews/official social media pages are for.

P.S.
My replies donā€™t reflect my personal opinion on piracy, theyā€™re just an attempt to put things the way I think they are. Iā€™m not trying to get into drama, just to have nice discussions.
