There were a few recently locked threads about piracy in a telegram channel, and I don’t want to restart that squabbling, but some of the participants in the arguing are defending an entitled attitude towards pirated content. I understand it’s not the same as directly sharing pirated content, but, personally, I don’t see why we tolerate such members of the community who openly express their disregard for creators to the point of dehumanizing them. If a member here is advocating for not “snitching” on pirated content, I feel we should treat that as aiding the distribution of said pirated content and maybe mods should be a little harsher about not allowing that kind of talk. I’m for freedom of speech, but it does feel like it makes this whole forum feel grosser when we’re sharing it with people like that and the only action taken is locking threads rather than any kind of discipline towards the offending users advocating for actions that go against site policies.
I completely agree! Some of our favourite models have already lost trust sharing their content unless they know you as a regular of years. Some completely stop making content. Like the whole point is loving what they do for us, not go against them by stealing, sharing and making them lose money. You’re literally a thief and deserve jail time for that. If they’re willing to do that for us then we should be happy to support them. Even if you are not ready to support them monetarily, there’s alway going to be free posted content on the web.
I guess the tl;dr of the rules on this site is that if threads get too stupid or disruptive (personal attacks that go to far etc) then those threads get closed but otherwise we’ll allow people to post whatever views they want to. I don’t particularly agree with a lot of stuff I read here either, but I think it’s important to be permissive rather than restrictive even on small forums like ours.
Regarding models, they get to advertise for free and make money here which is their objective. So they’re doing okay. It’s a better system for them here than the majority of the internet.
