I feel like I remember a while ago a previous forum having to shut down due to a lack of funding to run the server m. I also can’t remember how I found this forum or if it’s related. In any case how does this forum stay up? If I’m in a financial position to contribute are donations accepted? If so where can I send them to?
Right now Videoscan.net - automatically find burps in videos helps offset some of the costs. Before that I (and other admins at various points over the years) just paid for the servers ourselves.
I appreciate that you’re interested in keeping the forums alive. Any subscriptions to videoscan help pay for the servers, if you’re interested in that (and you’ll get to use a tool that hopefully you find useful at the same time)
Otherwise there’s no danger of bfforums disappearing. I’ve seen sites close for similar reasons too and I suspect most of the time the real reason is that the owners just get tired of operating them.
