I noticed there’s been at the very least one change in the site moderators lately. It would be nice if these kinds of changes were accompanied by a post to introduce the change and explain why and how it happened.
@TheTraveler is currently the only new moderator who I appointed because I like his attitude towards the site and community. The reason is for faster and more thorough moderation since we don’t have too many active moderators right now. There will probably be a couple more in the near future since the male section especially could use more attention.
I can post about any future updates in this thread if people are interested in moderation changes.
Personally, I don’t use the forums for content enough to really care, but it is extremely messy and cluttered recently. Feels like tighter moderation with better sorting of topics and discipline about where things should go would make this place a lot easier to post and read on.
It’s striking then that the reason TheTraveler got promoted to Moderator seems mostly for “attitude” rather than any focus on moderation policy. And while it may just be a coincidence, it’s also not lost on me that TheTraveler was given a moderator position 4 days ago when their only recent posts at the time were written in response to my posts against AI content. I don’t know what private conversations might have been going on at the time too and those might have been a bigger factor but it seems worth noting that TheTraveler was very likely promoted to moderator because he wanted to pick a fight with me and defend slop content. I’d avoided making a statement against AI content before despite looking at the AI thread with disgust but when it became multiple threads, I felt something needed to be said. And I’ll say more now since we’re on the topic of moderation. If these losers want to play with their planet (and soul) destorying toy in the comfort of one thread, fine, I won’t make a fuss. But at the point when we have multiple threads of AI content, perhaps even the threat of AI content entering threads not explicitly labeled “AI” then we have a problem. This is effortless slop that clogs up this forum. It is exactly the sort of thing that moderation should be working to keep out or at least heavily sequestered. And instead of taking a stand against it, Q has chosen the position of defending AI generated fetish content and the people who vocally support it. I have condemned AI art and the people who create it in the harshest terms I could manage, and I don’t take any of that back. And I think history will vindicate me for that. This seems like a good opportutnity for all of the moderators to have a good look at the state of this site and the direction it’s going and ask themselves if this is really what they want this forum to look like. Because as it stands, it feels like a place I neither like very much and find often personally hostile to me and my values.
I agree that more moderation is good at this point. I’d definitely like for any updates to be posted here!
It has nothing to do with that argument, but for example about contributions such as in this thread here. If I have a personal problem with anyone, I’ll talk to them about it directly. Indirect games and such isn’t my style.
AI content will be in their own clearly labelled threads, and shouldn’t spam up the board too much. You can post your views about it if you like and you won’t be censored (as long as the thread doesn’t get too out of hand) but this will not become an anti-AI site, sorry.
I didn’t say that because I disagree with them. I said it because I think they have taken unethical actions which, unless they choose to repent, have forfeited the value of their lives. AI slop is bad on its own but integrating it into your sexuality is, as I said before, an insult to humanity.
I fundamentally disagree with your position on discourse. There are in fact appropriate places to disagree in the strongest terms with people here. But I ultimately don’t really care what this place is “for.” I don’t like what this forum is for but I like being able to talk with and give advice to the few people who care about trying to navigate real life with this fetish rather than just trying to find stuff to jack off to. I acknowledge I am using the forum for reasons other than its designed purpose and i have to trudge through a lot of stuff I find morally disgusting to do it. Forgive me if I put my foot down sometimes and get upset about some of what y’all enjoy. I personally feel like I’ve added a lot more to this forum than you have and I’ve been here far longer so I don’t really need the lectures on what this place should be. I think you do sometimes have thoughtful or kind posts which I appreciate but you also post a lot of slop (AI and otherwise). I don’t think kindness is inherently a good thing, and I hope as you grow up you learn to take a stand for some values other than peace and comfort. I stand by my principles (which do sometimes include telling people to examine the value of their life)
The mistake you make is that I don’t think this is a place of kindness. You respond to something implicitly vile with kindness and think that’s doing good. Most of the people whose content get posted here probably don’t view that posting as an act of kindness. I think you have to question who you are being kind to. I personally have more empathy for the women who get harassed and lose control of their image to fetishists than I do with the men who post random videos they find or share stolen content. Sometimes you have to pick a side or get upset. Even Jesus flipped tables
I think this is a perfectly fair philosophical assessment but only if we acknowledge that it must be true in the opposite case as well. We must be considerate of who we’re being unkind with also. Suggesting that anyone who uses generated content for intimate satisfaction should commit suicide is not only a remarkably privileged and vapid response, but it’s also just a remarkably inhumane response—and there’s no way you can’t see that, friend. So, if you’re going to comment about the humanistic qualities of LLMs, then you really ought to be humanistic in your language concerning your opinions. I don’t disagree with your ethical concerns regarding generated images or videos, but I think the way you have gone about it has invited the exact insouciance you’re seeking to oppose. This is the contradiction inherent in all passionate activism, and I think everyone on this site—and on this Earth—would do well to recall that language is not a hammer for hitting nails but a coursing river for travelling between destinations.
And regarding your assertion that ‘this isn’t a place for kindness,’ kindly go find a mirror and ask if maybe that’s just your doxa, or your solipsism. For many of us, this place is intended for kindness and it has been a grief upon us that the forums have been so unkind in recent years. I have been here since the Elder Days, before we ever moved to this site. I can assure you: this is a place of kindness. You’re just failing to meet that kindness, to acknowledge it, or to even practice it, much like some other users in recent years (I need not name them; we all know the dramas of recent days). You respond to something implicitly kind—or innocent—in a vile way and you think that is good or correct because it ratifies your opinion or worldview. This is no different than the ‘other side’ you claim to oppose. That is why your discourse has brought on an argument. You speak from the same privilege that you seek to oppose.
Again, I sympathize with your ethics. I just wish you’d practice them with more consideration for your ethics.
I 100% agree with the initial post. Changes like this need to be actually announced if for no reason other than stopping arguments about it before they begin. Also, not a fan at all of “vibes” being an argument for why anyone should be promoted but whatever it’s not a big deal.
don’t want to call anyone out, not my intention at all but given a new mod being made I’d like to chime in here, underage posts can have a pretty unpleasant lag on the site, a lot of the time they hang around for awhile even when it’s pretty clear cut and they have been called out. it’d be nice if a mod that glances through updated threads could get stuff like that taken care of fast, like just as it’s been around long enough to get noticed proactively wipe it. i’m not talking about gray area situations like stories.
@Burpingfiend would make a good moderator too.
I’d like to say as someone who has also been around for quite some time but going in and out of this fetish, I completely agree and @Shadow’s post is a perfect example of the kind of maturity, thoughtfulness and pure humanism is missing from so many these days, mostly those in their mid 20s and under. It’s their way or the highway and f*ck em if they don’t agree. Or worse… go kill yourself. Remarkable statements from a generation so invested in the concept of preserving mental health.
I will not participate in this discussion further but I felt I had to add my two cents here.
Just to be clear I have nothing against you being picked, I’d just prefer some transparency about the process. Usually on other forums I’m on there’s a post about new mod picks introducing the new mods, that’s the type of thing I think would be helpful.
I’m sure you’ll be a good mod.
speaking only for the female side it’s most often, probably 95% in random media and best of tiktok burps, you definitely should check those updates if you’re intent on catching them. sometimes you’ll see it in threads where people are posting old youtube links.
If I can throw a suggestion out there since we’re on the topic of moderation (less specifically towards TheTraveler) but what’s the whole logic behind many of the topics? Like does anyone actually know what the hell “random media” is? whenever I’ve peeked in it seems to be a lot of tiktoks even though there’s (at least one) thread for tiktoks specifically. IDK. Again, I don’t use the forums for content, but feels like the whole thing would be a lot less cluttered if there was a clearer process for posting stuff such that things belonged in specific site-based threads with clear labels so things can be found easier later rather than constant requests for old videos or reposts.
I’ve always wished there were more mods just moving things and merging topics. Any random Tiktok post should be merged to the main Tiktok thread, and any model’s new random threads should be merged into their main thread. There’s more things like this for sure but you get the idea.
One of the things that irks me the most is when someone posts on a several years old topic just to be like “ANYONE STILL HAVE THIS?” I have never openly complained about it to not seem pedantic but that shit is incredibly annoying imo.
Some forums automatically lock threads when they’re too old. I’m neutral on this idea, but it would probably be possible.
Yeah I think it’s rare enough that it’s not a problem, but it’s a good tool to have in the toolbox.
